Princeton Record Exchange reviews Punishment Cookie

The world famous Princeton Record exchange said some real nice stuff about our new record Punishment Cookie that they are now selling! Here’s some of the article.
Pop-punk in the best possible way, Hair Rocket shoot through their first full-length with a witty, high-energy, yet irreverent sound, playing rough and fast while managing to pull off the polish. From the bouncing rhythm of “Eyes” to the lyrical porn for women (“I can flatter you all night long”) of “In My Brain,” Hair Rocket’s Punishment Cookie delights, pleasing both the ears and the shuffling feet of anyone looking for a good jam.
Comparing themselves to The Pixies, Spoon, and Cheap Trick, Hair Rocket is more than your average garage band, and they’re full of surprises. Just when you think you’ve got Hair Rocket’s number, the band busts out an unexpected keyboard solo, sax riff, or clap rhythm. READ THE WHOLE THING HERE!

FILM PUNK LOVE!!!

Our most awesome friends Film Punk just posted this about the new record.

The record is a brash, bluesy, lo-fi rock jolt that’s loaded with hooks and seething guitar. To pick but three of my favourite songs, “Hair Rocket” sounds like Wire playing The Feelies, “Ok Alright” is a paranoid barnburner with an unforgettable wordless chorus, “Imagining” is sweet but persistent. It has the intensity and immediacy of other Philadelphia bands like Laguardia or Pepper’s Ghost, but Blasucci has a confident enough voice that he’ll outlast them and make a lasting impression. His debut record has a sound simultaneously solid and loose and I’ve been listening almost non-stop since I got it.READ THE FULL STORY HERE

Deli Magazine interview

Here’s an interview The Deli music magazine called “Where is my mind” It’s been a bazaar journey watching Hair Rocket evolve from a song to a warped artistic movement to a band. But it has certainly been an enjoyable one. Multi-instrumentalist, pyrotechnician and mastermind Chris Blassucci surprised listeners and the local media with his impressive debut EP Novelty, and now he’s back with his new Kickstarter-funded LP Punishment Cookie which is full of tasty morsels of power pop goodness. You can watch Hair Rocket leave it all on stage tomorrow night at Bookspace, but hopefully they won’t burn the whole place down. We had a chance to catch up with the always unpredictable Blasucci to find out what the hell is a punishment cookie, why he dropped out of Berklee, what is like going to the bathroom in your pants, and much more(read interview here)

BROOKLYN RADIO BURNS ROCKET CHILDREN

DJ Chucky Brown and his show The Shake Up on Brooklynradio.net gave a shout to Hair Rocket on his “Decade Review” last week. Chucky was one of the first to give Hair Rocket air play adding the song “Imagining” to his Live At The Ambassador 6, paving the way for WOXY and WXPN who have since put the song in rotation. The bands next performance will be at Don Pedros in Brooklyn, January 7.
